| Description | ||||
| President and Mrs. Hussain Muhammad Ershad of Bangladesh make an official visit to Korea June 15-19, 1985, at invitation of President Chun Doo Hwan.
Bangladesh is located in South-West Asia, surrounded by India on all sides except the southern side, which faces the Bay of Bengal, and a small part of its eastern side, which borders Burma. The country, with an area of 144,000sq. km., has a mostly Islamic population of 96 million, who speak Bengali and English as the official languages. With a tropical monsoon climate, it is one of the countries that get the highest precipiation in the world. Bangladesh, which is pursuing an independent diplomatic policy of nonalignment, established formal relations with our country in 1973 and has since been promoting friendly relations, taking a great interest in our experience in economic beneficial cooperation in such fields as economy and technology. The Ministry of Communications issues this commemorative postage stamp as a sign of the hearty welcome our nation extends o President and Mrs. Ershad. |
