Description
Music is an art of sound, in time, which is slowly formed in the interactions between man and society. The Korean people, who have enjoyed music from anicient times, inheriting and further developing traditional music, have today an innumerable number of songs expressive of folk feelings and love for local places.

The Minstry of Communications intends make our music known more widely at home and aboard by issuing, over the next few years, postage stamps which feature Korean music. The more popular of our folk songs, childern's songs and classcial songs will be selected and postage stamps will be designed according to the themes of the songs and carry their musical scores. The following two stamps are the first of the series:

1.The Spring of My Home (4/4,C Major).
This song, written by Lee Won-su and composed by Hong Nan-pa, is full of a nostalgic yearning child, playing under the peach and azalea blossomes on the hill of his home. Though written for childern, it is popularly sung like a folk song. Simple but extremely beautiful, it is one of the most favorite songs of the Korean people.

2. A Leaf Boat (6/8 E Major).
This song written by Park Hong-keun and composed by Yun Yong-ha, is the reminiscence of its writer of his childhood days. The words describe how he, as a little boy, would pick up a fallen leaf, set it afloat on a calm pond, and send it sailing with his dreams aboard through the white clouds reflected on the water in the bright moon-light. It is a lyrical song for childern.
