| Description | ||||
| The 24th Olympic Games will be held in Seoul September 17 through October 2, 1988. The Olympaid, which traces back to the athletic festivals of Ancient Greece, makes
its ideal, to bring forth a peaceful world. "Harmony and progress", has been adopted as the motto for the Seoul Olympiad, which will be long remembered as a glorious event in our history.
In celebration of the event the Ministry of Comunications will issue eight kinds of stamps each year from 1985 until 1988. The two following stamps are the third of the series: 1. Basketball. The game has been an Olympic event since the 1936 Olympic Games held in Berlin. It was, however, first in-troduced to us Koreans in 1907, by an American Missionary named Gillet, P. In the 1960's half a century later, the Korean women's basketball team played with the best women's teams of the world and won a silver medal at the 1984 Olympics. 2. Boxing. |
