The main objectives of the International Year of Peace are: first, to induce from the UN member states, various international organizations, cultural, education, academic bodies, and the mass media all over the world, enthusiasthic and effective activities designed to promote international peace, and security and cooperation, as stated in the UN charter, and solve international disputes in a peaceful manner; second, to strengthen the UN, the principal international organization, that is exerting all of its powers for the promotion of international peace; and third, to a attract the attention of the whole world to peace, the condition most urgently reguired of the world today.
