Description
President Ahmed Abdallah Abderemane of the Federal Islamic Republic of the Comoros makes a state visit to our country April 1-9, 1987 at the invitation of President Chun Do-Hwan.

The Federal Islamic Republic of the Comoros, located between the Continent of Africa and the island of Madagascar, consists of the four islands Grande Comore, Moheli, Anjouan and Mayotte. With a combined land area of 2,236 km, inhabited by a 500,000 population, the country declared its independence of France in 1975. It has a per capita national income of 240 dollars, has Islam as the state religion, which about 86 percent of the population believe in, uses French and Arabic as the official languages, and produces among other things spicery and sugar.

The Republic, which has close relations with France in diplomacy, economy, finance, culture and other fields of mutual cooperation, signed a treaty of amity with our country in 1979.

The Ministry of Communications issues this postage stamp in commemoration of President Ahmed abdallah Abdermane's state visit to Korea and also as a token of the hearty welcome our nation extends to him.
