| Description | ||||
| This is the 100th year after the electric lamp was first lighted in Korea, at the Kyongbokkung Palace, in 1887. Our electric power has since come through innumerable ups and downs to its tremendous growth of today.
In the 1960's, our power industry finally turned the corner, making rapid progress just in time to meet the large demand of power for our economic growth and industrialization. Today it has grown to be the prime source of energy not only for other industries but for our everyday life as well. At this threshold of the second century of our power industry, the Ministry of Communications issues this commemorative postage stamp in recognition of the contribution it has made to our economic development, and also to help the public realize the vital role it plays for us today. |
