| The International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), is an international association of ports and harbors authorities and corporations concerned with port and harbor management throughout the world. Established with the common cause of balanced development of maritime transportation through mutual understanding and cooperation among the people engaged in the business.
Since its creation in 1955, the association has grown to be the biggest civilian international body in the field concerned, with more than 80 member countries. The IAPH holds its 15th General Session in Seoul for eight days from April 25 to May 2, under the subject, "Ports looking into the 21th century". The Session, to be attended by some 1,000 delegates from 60 countries, is expected to provide an opportunity for the participants to exchange information, promote friendship among them and help contribute to a balanced development of maritime transportation among the member countries. The Ministry of Communications issues this postage stamp in commemoration of the Seoul Session of the IAPH, wishing it success in its aim of helping development of the world's maritime transportation and promoting amity among the people and organizations concerned in it. |
