| Description | ||||
| The Ministry of Communications has set the seven days from November 18 to 24, 1987 for the 14th Philatelic Week. The purpose of a philatelic week is to provide a momentum for the general public to have a new understanding of postage stamps and the collecting of them as a healthy cultural hobby. During Philatelic Week this year a national philatelic exhibition is to be held in the Postal Museum, which is located in the Seoul Central Post Office.
Postage stamp collecting is becoming ever more popular today and the people indulging in the hobby are rapidly increasing in number. This is largely due to the fact that today's postage stamp is not simply a means of sending letters, but is also a carrier of valuable information about the history, culture, economy, society and other aspects of a country or people. On the occasion of this year's Philatelic Week, the Ministry of Communications issues this postage stamp to help promote the general understanding of the postage stamp, and stimulate public interest in its collecting as a healthy hobby. |
