| Rapid progress in computer and telecommunications is bringing the world closer and closer to an age of information. It is in recognition of this social change that the Ministry of Communications has designated June of this year as "The Month of Information".
It goes without saying, that the information media has to be popularized for an age of information to be realized. One of the media is the telepress, which has already been in practical use for a year in our country, promptly supplying the subscribers with a variety of information necessary for daily life. The Ministry of Communicatications issues this postage stamp in commemoration of the first year of an epochal change in our society. We are fast moving toward a new age of information; and also, as a sign of our expectation that the telepress will effectively contribute to the complete realization of the new age in history. |
