| Ever since 1981, when Seoul was settled in Baden Baden, West Germany, as the site of the 24th Olympics, the whole Korean nation has helped to prepare for a successful Olympiad, and all the facilities for it have been completed, including the Olympic Stadium and other arenas, and the quarters for the athletes, officials and reporters.
The Seoul Olympics has finally opened, as a festival for all mankind in which all the participants, disregarding any political, racial or religious difference between them, will do their very best for their individual and national honor. As a token of our nation's desire that the Seoul Olympics will be perfectly successful, contributing greatly to would peace and mutual understanding between nations, the Ministry of Communications issues four kinds of commemorative postage stamps for the Seoul Olympics, depicting Baron Pierre de Coubertin and the Olympic Flag, a symbolic structure of the Seoul Olympics, an overall view of Seoul City, and a "massgame", respectively. |
