| Description | ||||
| 1989, the year of the snake, has come.
This time every year, we look back on the past year characterizing it as a year full of events and difficulties, but the expression sounds truer than at any other time before, for the past year was a year in which we successfully hosted a great sports festival of mankind, fully demonstrating our national potential and ability to the whole world. It is our long-standing year-end and new year custom, to send a letter or card to our relatives, friends and all other people we love, inquiring after their well-being and wishing them good luck and happiness for the New Year. The Ministry of Communications issues New Year postage stamps every year in order to add to the pleasure and happiness with which people send and receive the New Year greetings. For this year, we have chosen as our theme of design for the people's stamp, "nolttwigi", which is a traditional seesaw-like women's play on a board balanced in the middle, played by the woman on each end alternatively jumping on the board, raising the woman at the other end high in the air. |
