| Description | ||||
| The International Council of Nurses (ICN), is the oldest of the international public health organizations, which is devoted to improving the efficiency of the nursing profession, to tend the sick, and working for public health.
Since its establishment in London in 1899, proposed by the Nurses' Association of Ireland and participated in by the associations of seven countries, including the US, Canada and Denmark, ICN has grown today to an international organization with a membership of 101 national associations, the individual members of which reach 4.5 million in number, working in close cooperation with its national member associations, holding a congress every four years, and speaking for the nurses of the world. At the Seoul Congress, held May 28 to June 2, with "Nursing-a new tomorrow" as its theme for discussion, the participants will discuss the common concerns of the profession, exchange new professional information, and promote friendship among them, contributing to the progress of nursing. The Ministry of Communications issues this postage stamp in commemoration of the Seoul Congress of the International Council of Nurses, and in recognition of the valuable work it has done for the care of the sick and the health of all people. |
