Description
The number of motor vehicles of a country may be taken as a measure of its industrial development. In Korea, the vehicles have now reached 3 millions in number, about 40 percent of them being in Seoul.

Accidents are realistically inevitable in the present flood of vehicles, but lamentable is the fact that a large percentage of accidents are happening at places, such as crossings, which are supposed to be safe. Accidents can be greatly reduced if a little more care is taken both by drivers and pedestrians. Now that vehicles are rapidly increasing in number, it is imperative that all of us earnestly join in a campaign for reducing accidents and establishing a desirable traffic culture, by stubbornly sticking to the traffic rules and by not even dreaming of such reckless acts as drunken driving, in particular.

The Ministry of Communications issues this postage stamp with a view to giving rise to a national campaign for traffic safety.
