| Description | ||||
| The Taejon Expo-93 has drawn much attention not only from the Koreans, but also from people all over the world, since its official approval to be held August 7 till November 7, 1993 in Taejon, Korea at the 1989 BIE General Meeting.
The Expo site, with an area of 901,000 meters, is located in Doe-Ryong district near the Tae-Dok Science Town. There will be 60 country pavillions and 20 pavillions for intrernational organizations and foreign corporations. Additional pavilions for Korea's large corporations-both public and private, its leading industries, small and medium businesses, and each local province, will be built as well. At the same time, all kinds of events and performances celebrating the Taejon Expo are scheduled to be held. In doing so, the Expo is expected to become a major international event in which Korean industry, technology , culture and art will be intensively concentrated all in one place . Thereby, the Expo will provide another excellent opportinity next to the 88 Seoul Olympic Games to show the world Korea's overall ability. In commemoration of such a historic event the Ministry of Communicationa issues two kinds of postage stamps: one is in a desifn of a symbolic tower of Expo-93 depicting promotion of advanced science and determination to leap forward to a better future; the other in figures symbolizing the theme of the Expo-93, "The Challenge of a New Road to Development". |
