Description
The Ministry of Communications has been issuing special serial postage stamps with some of our popularly loved songs, expressive of our unique national emotion as the theme of stamp design, with a view to introducing Korean songs to the world. The following two kinds of postage stamps, which are the seventh of the series, feature two of our most representative folk songs, Kotbahtehsuh and Kwasoowonkil.

1. Kotbahtehsuh.
Lyrics by Uh, Hyo-Sun and Music by Kwon, Kil -Sang.
This song, whose title means "At a flower garden", was introduced in the middle of bleak and chaotic atmosphere, right after the reclamation of Seoul by the allies, on September 28, 1950 during the Korean War. At that time the song, with its beautiful tunes and cheerful words had comsoled innocent souls scarred by the war and is still enjoyed by many children today.

2. Kwasoowonkil.
Lyrics by Park, Hwa-Mok and Music by Kim, Kong-Sun.
The title of the song , which means "A pass to an orchard", was inspired by the thoughts of the writer's hometown, in the North, where he can no longer visit due to the split of Korea. It makes all of us remember our homes whenever we sing or hear this song.
