3500 participants from 80 nations, including orthopedists and other individuals related to this field will be participating in this academic event which is the largest kind to be held in Korea. New developments in medicine will be exchanged and manual ties will be strengthened during this event which is in a sense an "Olympics of Medicine." SICOT was established on Oct. 10, 1929, by 21 renowned orthopedists from 12 nations, with a view to exchange academic findings and strengthen relations. Its World Congress is held every 3 years and medical publications introducing noteworthy papers are released by this organization. SICOT contributes greatly to the orthopedic academia and advancement of medicine. 78 nations are currently members. Medical instruments and pharmaceutical products will be on exhibition during the World Congress, providing an opportunity to exchange information on state-of-the-art medical instruments and pharmaceutical products, which will open new ideas in medicine. The Ministry of Communications issues a commemorative postage stamp carrying the emblem of SICOT and pictures of patients, with hopes that this World Congress will contribute to developments in medical technology and the welfare of mankind. |
