| The year of "The Rooster", 1993, has been a remarkable year in which we saw a new government pursuing reform admist stability, the successful hosting of the Taejon International Exposition, Korea.
1993 which unfolded the future vision for mankind and provided a new opportunity for the prosperity of mankind through the harmony of tradition and science, and activities. The time has come to reflect upon the year past and to plan for the next year. It is also a time to send New Year's cards to family, teachers and close acquaintances to extend the feeling of gratitude and good will. The Ministry of Communications issues two kinds of New Year's Greetings postage stamps for the coming year of "The Dog". One stamp features a typical Korean dog, "Sapsaree" which was designated as the Natural National Monument No. 368 in 1992. Since old days, the dog with long hair and humorous looks earned the reputation as a dog which drives away ghosts and bad spirits through its faithfulness to its owner and its valor. The other stamp features "The Puppy with New Year's Greeting Bow". |
