Description
The Ministry of Communications issues 4 postage stamps that introduce the wild flowers of Korea, to draw attention to the problems of preserving the environment and protecting the ecosystem.

1. Weigela hortensis K. Koch.
This deciduous broad-leafed shrub belongs to the "caprifoliaceae family" and grows in valleys and sunny spots of mountains. Its height is about 2-3m, and its branches are grayish brown. It blooms rose-pink flowers in June and bears capsule-fruit. This plant is used for ornamental purpose and apiculture. It grows in the southern regions of the peninsula.

2. Iris ruthenica Ker-Gawier.
This perennial plant grows in dry spots within the forest. Its Korean name, "sol-beut flower", literally means brush flower, which is derived from the fact its roots are used to make brushes. Its leaves are narrow and long and its purple flowers bloom between April and May. The stems of its flowers are extremely short. Besides its ornamental and industrial uses, this plant is also used for Korean oriental medicine and other traditional remedies.

3. Aceriphyllum rosii Engler.
This perennial belongs to the "Saxifragaceae family". It grows between rocks on riversides in the northern mountain region of Kyonggi-do and Kangwon-do. Its flowers are either white or pale pink, and bloom between May and June. Its leaf is similar to the maple leaf in its shape and grows in a cluster near its roots, This plant grows 15-30m tall. It is used as a ornamental plant and its leaves are edible.

4. Caltha palustris Linne.
This perennial plant can be found in damp places in the forest and is a member of the "Ranaculaceae family". Its stems are usually about 50§¯ long. One or two flowers bloom at the end of its stems between April and May. Its leaves grow in clusters around the roots. It bears fruit in October. This plant grows in Korea and Japan. It is used as a ornamental plant and is toxic.
