| Description | ||||
| The year 1994, the Year of Dog, has been devoted to enhancing our national competitiveness in preparation for the year of intense international competition which will soon be upon us. Extensive reforms were undertaken throughout the year. Laws and institutions were reformed in order to lay the foundation of a New Korea in all fields including industry, politics and the economy. A nationwide campaign was launched to develop sound attitudes and ideas which will enable the nation to effectively meet the challenges of globalization.
The new year 1995, the Year of Pig, will be a very significant year as it marks the 50th anniversary of the nation's liberation from the Japanese colonial occupation. It is also expected to be a fruitful year, in which Korea's future will be determined as an advanced nation with a leading role to play in the emerging Asia-Pacific region. Now is the time to reflect upon the past year and look forward to a new and bright year, 1995. The season is also an ocasion in which we send greetings to our friends and relatives, wishing them health and happiness. As we wrap up this year and welcome the new year with hopes and expectations, the Ministry of Communications is celebrationg the season by issuing two New Year's postage stamps featuring "A Lucky Bag and a Pig", and "A New Year's Visit". |
