Description
There are more than 1,100 kinds of mushrooms in Korea, Poisonous mushrooms account for 8,7 percent of them. This year, the fifth collection of the mushroom series stamps features four poisonous mishrooms.

Inocybe fastigiata (Schaeff.) Quel.
The pileus of Inocybe fastigiata is conical and 2 to 6.5 cm in diameter with a pale brownish surface. It has yellowish white lamellae and pale brown stipe. This commensal fungus is usually found on the ground in coniferous and latifoliate woods during summer and autumn. It contains a toxin called mrscarine.

Panaeolus papilionaceus (Bull. : Fr. )Quel.
Panaeolus papilionaceus is characterized by a bell-shaped cap with the surface becoming light gray in moist weather and brown in dry weather. Its lamellae are blackish, and its stipe is pale brown with flour-like powder on the surface. It is collected from spring to autumn. It usually grows in grass and pastures, and on horse and cow dung. It contains a poisonous substance that affects the nervous system.

Ramaria flava(Fr.)Quel.
Ramaria flava is 10 to 15 cm long and 7 to 15 cm wide. It resembles undersea coral and has branches. The young fungus is yellow but turns ocher in maturity. The tissue is white but turns deep red when bruised or left out long. This mycorrhizal fungus usually grows in groups on leavey ground in coniferous and latifoliate forest during autumn. It contains a toxic substance that causes diarrhea or vomiting.

Amanita muscaria (L. : Fr. ) Hooker.
Amanita muscaria has a pileus of 10 to 15 cm in diameter, ranging from bright red to reddish yellow in color with white scales. Its gills are white. It grows on the ground beneath birch trees in summer. It contains a toxin called muscarine. Its brilliant colors and striking shape make it one of the best known wild mushrooms.
