Description
The 85th FDI Seoul Congress is scheduled to be held from September 5 to September 9, 1997 at the Korea Exhibition Center in Seoul, Korea.

Since its founding in Paris, France, on August 15, 1900, the "Federation Dentaire Internationale(FDI)" has grown to include 140 national dental associations, which are full-members, and some 710 individual members. Since it joined the FDI in 1959, the Korean dental association has actively participated in all FDI activities. It has even held important positions in the FDI such as a trusteeship and the Asia-Pacific region officer's seat. The FDI Annual World Dental Congress has been held in various major cities of member countries. At the Berlin Congress in 1992, Seoul was selected the site for the 85th Congress. The upcoming Seoul Congress promises to be a major event. Not only will there be meetings of the delegates for discussion of all issues concerning dentistry, but there will also be scientific programs such as table top demonstrations and presentations of clinical and research result, and lectures by guest speakers. In addition to the technical exhibition for the world's major dental dealers and allied health businesses, the Seoul Congress promises to provide an opportunity to introduce the refined cultural tradition of Korea to dental professionals all over the world.

The Ministry of Information and Communication is issuing a commemorative stamp to celebrate the 85th FDI Seoul Congress, the world's premier dental meeting. The Congress will no doubt do much to elevate Korea to advanced country status in oral health by bringing the public's attention and awareness to the importance of dental care.
