1999 Stamps and Philatelic items by class/type

COMMENTS:

1. For the first time in S. Korea's issuance history, nine philatelic items that always have been classed and translated to English as Souvenir Sheet (S/S), were issued containing a stamp of the same basic design, but imprinted with a higher denomination. Previosly, S/S have been a secondary stamp source issue, containing one or more of the exact same stamp/s as contained in the primary source, pane/complete sheet. In the above summary I have annotated these new S/S with "Sp", and in the future, will refer to them as "Special S/S".
   a. 05.03.99; 3 170W stamps, Nos. 1983, 85, 87; and 3 340W Special S/S, Nos. 1984, 86, & 88.
   b. 08.12.99; 1 170W stamp, No. 1994; and 1 480W Special S/S, No. 1995.
   c. 08.13.99; 1 170W stamp, No. 1996; and 1 340W Special S/S, No. 1997.
   d. 10.20.99; 4 170W stamps, Nos. 2006, 08, 10, 12; and 4 Special S/S, Nos. 2007, 09, 11, and 13.

2. The Special Combination Sheet is the only source of Nos. 1989-92; 1989-90 170W, Nos. 1991-92 340W. The Sheet is composed of an Upper-part(one of each stamp); and a Lower-part which contains 2 se-tenant strips of each (8).

3. The Special Sheet is the only source of Nos. 1999-2004, 170W each. This is the 1st issue of the Millennium Series.

4. The Special Sheet is the only source of Nos. 2015-2022, 340W each. This is the 9th issue of the Korean Beauty Series.

5. The Special Sheet is the only source of Nos. 2024-2029, 170W each. This is the 2nd issue of the Millennium Series.

6. Stamp No. 2030, is classed as a NEW YEAR/HOLIDAY STAMP by Korea.

7. The Special Combination Sheet is the only source of Nos. 2031(170W), and 2032(380W). The Sheet is composed of an Upper-part(one of each stamp); and a Lower-part which contains four 170W, and four 380W stamps.

8. Stamp Nos. 2033-2036 (170W each), are a se-tenant strip of 4. Topic : 2002 World Cup Korea/Japan (4th Issue). The single S/S contains one strip of 4.

9. Collector Booklets: All 99 Booklets contain 10 stamps; except, the 05.01.99 release, Stamp No. 1966, which only contains six stamps.
