The Summer Games of the XXII Olympiad (1980), although boycotted by the United States, South Korea and other countries, were held in Moscow, U.S.S.R. from July 19th to August 3rd. Almost 6,000 competitors from 81 countries arrived to compete in 22 sports. An estimated 10,000 athletes were expected to be a part of the 1980 Summer Games.
